NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 15, 2004--GUNS N' ROSES have filed a lawsuit against Geffen Records, a division of UMG Recordings, Inc., to stop the unauthorized release of a Greatest Hits package by the band. The lawsuit seeks a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against this unauthorized release and was filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles. The band has not been given the opportunity to approve the choice of songs, the artwork, the release date or the re-mastering done on the tracks included on this compilation. GUNS N' ROSES have sold over 80,000,000 albums worldwide - almost 40,000,000 in the US alone - and founding member W. Axl Rose is concerned that not only will their audience be misled into believing that the planned compilation is an authorized release, but that it will hinder the release of the band's long awaited new studio album CHINESE DEMOCRACY. There has been a massive outcry among the band's loyal audience against the Greatest Hits record, as they too believe the track selection is fundamentally flawed, does not reflect the band's best work and is clearly not the ultimate package that would be selected by the band or their fan base if they were given the opportunity. They have flooded the offices of Geffen Records' senior executives with thousands of emails over the last few weeks expressing their dissent.
W. Axl Rose is joined by former band members Slash and Duff McKagan in bringing the action against Geffen Records.

Rumors of guitarist Buckethead's departure from GUNS N' ROSES have gained strength in the recent weeks, with many speculating that GNR singer Axl Rose's alleged decision to begin taking guitar lessons will result in him taking on some of the guitar duties himself during the band's upcoming live performances.
Although the GUNS N' ROSES camp has yet to make an official comment on the matter, a BLABBERMOUTH.NET visitor and a previous news contributor bumped into GUNS N' ROSES keyboardist Dizzy Reed over the weekend and filed the following report:
"The after-show for [the] YNGWIE [MALMSTEEN] [concert] was held [Sunday night, March 14] at the Cat Club. The band that was playing that night was a cover band featuring Dizzy Reed on keys. During the set, they introduced Yngwie's drummer Patrick Johansson. He sat in on the drums for a rousing rendition of AC/DC's 'Dirty Deeds'.
"After the set I introduced myself to Dizzy. I had been wearing my GNR 'Chinese Democracy' shirt too! I asked him what was the status of the new album. He said that they should be releasing it this year (big surprise). I also asked him the what happened at the Philly riot show, since I was there. He said that you could thank Clear Channel for that one. I also asked him about Buckethead's status, in which he confirmed that he is unofficially out of the band."

Tja typisch Guns halt; langsam aber sicher hab ich bei denen aber auch das Gefühl, dass das ganze Pech was die haben nicht nur an Axl liegt, ich glaub die haben seit einigen Jahren auch ein beschissenes Management....
Anyways lasset uns hoffen bis zum Schluss, in Rock in Rio Lissabon spielen sie ja anscheinend noch und man könnte sich ja denken, dass die nicht nur wegen einem Auftritt nach Europa kommen....
Der Comment, das Axl selbst Gitarre lernt, ist übrigens schon gut ein Jahr alt, also vielleicht hat er es also bis zum Sommer drauf LOL

also was gnr angeht bin ich mittlerweile hin- und hergerissen...einerseits kotzt mich ihr getue schon tierisch an, vor allem was die diva...axel... so alles treibt.......anderseits hab ich gerade im fernsehen die werbung für ihr best-of-album gesehen....und ich glaub wenn ich die songs wirklich live hören könnte wär alles vergessen....

Jaja... die Gunners... genau aus diesem Grund habe ich immer gesagt, dass mir eine andere Band lieber wäre - so geil die GnR-Lieder auch sind.
Was macht man als Veranstalter jetzt eigntlich mit dem für GnR veranschalgtem Geld? GnR würde bestimmt nicht gerade wenig kosten, also hätte man jetzt ja ne Menge "übrig"...

Keine Angst, das Problem hatten die schon vor 3 Jahren. Das Geld wird einkassiert, einen Ersatz gibt`s keinen aber dafür gibts dann ein gigantisches ganz tolles Überraschungsfeuerwerk.... viel besser als ein Headliner !
